Jadakiss Top 5 DOA

Asked to design the cover for Jadakiss’ statement album “Top 5 Dead or Alive” we knew we had to do something that felt worth of the title. Knowing Jadas affinity with sports we felt it was a natural extension to make this feel like he was being inducted into the hall of fame. So we pitched the idea to create a bust of Jada and photograph it, this allowed us to use an identifiable image of the rapper on the cover without it actually being him and tying back to the concept of the title seamlessly.  On top of using the bust for the cover photo, we knew that making a physical statue would allow us to use it in marketing initiatives, bring it places, allow people to take photos with it and more. Throughout the marketing run for the album the bust began to take a life of its own, showing up on ESPN and Sway in the morning even getting on the cover of the Source and finding a permanent home on ESPN with Jalen Rose on set of the Jalen and Jacoby show.
